Orientation Rides - Powered

The Opa Locka Cadet Squadron uses Fountainbleau Aviation as a meeting point for Cadet Orientation Rides. Cadets are instructed to arrive by 0800 in order to participate in the orientation ride. Parents are instructed to make sure their cadet has:

 

  • proper uniform for flying (complete BDU's - NO t-shirt/jeans will be permitted)

  • MUST have a current CAP identification card (if they don't have a regular ID card, a printed copy will do)

  • membership MUST be in good standings with Civil Air Patrol

  • MUST have a completed CAPF-32 and CAPF-161 prior to flight with ALL required signatures

  • MUST have money for food / drinks in case they land at another facility and want to get food

 

 

Make sure your cadet is well hydrated starting the night before and has had food in advance of flight (preferably 2 - 3 hours). Parents, make sure you are there to pick-up your cadet after the orientation flight as the Senior Members may have to depart with the aircraft or the vehicle and your cadet MUST NOT be left unsupervised.

 

If you should have any questions, please ask the Senior Member presnt when you drop off your cadet.

 

PARENTS - DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CADET ALONE AT FOUNTAINBLEAU AVIATION prior to the orientation ride.

The Opa Locka Cadet Squadron uses Homestead General Aviation Airport as a meeting point for Cadet Glider Orientation Rides. Cadets are instructed to arrive by 0800 in order to get transportation via CAP van to Homestead General Airport. Parents are instructed to make sure their cadet has:

 

  • proper uniform for glider flying (squadron t-shirt and shorts, sun glasses, hat)

  • MUST have a current CAP identification card (if they don't have a regular ID card, a printed copy will do)

  • membership MUST be in good standings with Civil Air Patrol

  • each cadet must complete the Wing Runner Course prior to their glider flight (MUST complete the entire course not part of it)

  • MUST have a completed CAPF-32 and CAPF-161 prior to flight with ALL required signatures
